TRY GUN AT GAME FAIR ORGANISED BY
SCOTTISH ASSOCIATION FOR COUNTRY SPORTS
Changes to the Firearms (NI) Order
meant that visitors to the National Countrysports Fair in
2005 could borrow a shotgun to shoot
clay pigeons. This was the first time at a major event in
Northern Ireland this facility was available. The try-gun
stand will be set up and manned by the Scottish Association for
Country Sports who anticipate an entry in excess of 200 over the two-days
of the event. In 2008, members of the public over the age of eighteen will
again have the opportunity of shooting clay pigeons without
having a firearms certificate.

SIDE BY SIDE
COMPETITION
Recognising that there are a number of sportsmen and sportswomen
in Ireland who sue side-by-side shotguns and who would like to
compete a clay pigeon shooting competitions with their
side-by-side guns, the organisers of the National Countrysports
Fair are staging a special competition for them. The
targets will be the same as for the conventional shoot, it is
just the guns that will be different!
With prizes for winners in the men's and lady's event, the
side-by-side event is certain to attract a big entry and keep
alive the use of our more traditional side-by-side
shotguns. Competitors for this event, which will run on Sunday 1
June only, should ensure that their entry card is for this event
prior to competing.
