Countryside Alliance Ireland Host Gunsmiths Corner at Moira Demesne
Perazzi launch new Model at NCF
Top
Italian gun maker, Perazzi, will launch their new
sporting shotgun at the National
Countrysports Fair. It is a 34in-barrelled Perazzi HPX over-and-under which has been developed by
John Jeffries specifically for high pheasants. John has
an interesting history in this context. He was the man
who developed the concept of the 32in-barrelled sporter
for sporting clay-pigeon shooting. These guns are
ubiquitous today, but they were not in the Eighties when
his old company, Diamond Guns, introduced a range of
long-barrelled DG Perazzis. The stand will be located in
Gunsmiths Corner, part of the extensive Countryside
Alliance Ireland exhibition at the game fair. John
Jeffries will also be at Foymore Lodge Country Pursuits
Centre before and after the fair and will be pleased to
demonstrate this innovative shotgun to anyone
interested. Contact can be made through:

One of the most popular attractions at the 2009 National Countrysports
Fair was
the inclusion of a Gunsmith's Corner where some of the
country's top gun finishers and engravers demonstrated
their skills. The art of gun making has all but died
out in Ireland but in England & Scotland there still are
artisans who ply their trade in this specialised field.
Countryside Alliance Ireland will host a Gunsmith's
Corner on their stand at the 2010 National Countrysports
Fair in Moira Demesne.
Gunstock maker and re-finisher, Ian Summerell, will be
on hand over the weekend to discus stocking and
re-finishing work and will have a sample of his work
with him. Ian was apprenticed
to a London gun maker and after working for that company for
a number of years, moved into the skilled business of gun
stock making and finishing. His order books are full
but he has made the time to visit Northern Ireland's top
country sports occasion at Moira Demesne to demonstrate his
trade. |
Engraver
Complementing
Ian on the stand will be Master Engraver Barry Green from
Essex who will be joined on the stand by two lady engravers
who are apprentices in the engraving trade.
Barry is one of a number of Master Engravers working in GB
with commissions from many of the major English gun
makers. His work is highly prized and adds that extra
aesthetic quality of shotguns and sporting rifles.
Barry will have a number of gun actions from his workshop
in Essex with him and the trio will demonstrate the
engraver's art in Gunsmith's Corner.
Barry Green will accept commissions and have a
portfolio of his work available to view on the CAI
stand. |
