Gundogs at Moira 2010

Unquestionably Ireland's largest gundog weekend, the National Countrysports Fair will welcome the cream of Irish gundog handlers for a new and exciting mix of gundog events for all breeds of working dogs.


All-Ireland International Gundog Challenge

Round one of the the All-Ireland International Gundog Challenge will be staged at the National Countrysports Fair in Moira Demesne on Saturday 29 May commencing at 10.30 a.m.

Teams of six retriever and spaniel handlers from Northern and Southern Ireland will compete in the first round of this prestigious event which continues with round two at the Irish National Country Fair at Ballinlough Castle on Saturday 31 July.  Ireland's top gundog handlers will take part in this "Mixed Pairs" event which sees the country's leading gundog handlers run as mixed teams of spaniels and retrievers.

Scores will be carried over to the event at Ballinlough Castle in the culmination of this new and exciting International Gundog Challenge.


Spaniel Open Working Test

The spaniel working tests at all game fair are enthusiastically supported by handlers and the public alike and visitors to the 2010 event at Moira Demesne will not be disappointed. The National Countrysports Fair's team of spaniel enthusiasts will organise the spaniel working tests at this year's fair. 

Tim and Trevis Crothers, whose reputation as international handlers and judges goes before them, have promised a testing yet enjoyable event.  Commencing at 2.30 a.m. on Saturday 29 May 2010. entries will be accepted on the day of the event. Superb prizes of Irish Lead Crystal will be awarded to the winners.

Once again in 2010, some of Ireland's top international judges will officiate at this event


Retriever Competitions at the Fair

Craigavon Gundog Club, will for the eight year in succession, organise all the retriever working tests at the 2010 National Countrysports Fair, including the National Retriever Working Tests.  Their expertise is renowned throughout Ireland and, as one of the clubs licensed to organise field trials in Northern Ireland, their organising abilities are second to none. 

A superb range of retriever working tests is assured at Moira Demesne on what is considered by many as the best working test ground in the Province.

Around £1,000 of Irish Cristal prizes will be awarded to the winning handlers at the National Countrysports Fair making this Northern Ireland's premier retriever weekend. The retriever events are generously sponsored by the Co. Armagh based, Foymore Lodge Country Pursuits.
