Family Events at the National Countrysports Fair

The National Countrysports Fair is and always has been a family occasion and this year it will be no different!  Our emphasis at the fair is firmly on "have-a-go" and we are sure that you will agree that there is plenty to do there and for every member of the family.  We have listed here a selection of the things that you may be interested in doing as a family visiting the fair.

 


Birds of Prey
Just don't watch them in the main arena, see them up- close on the Falconry Stand

Pony Rides
Enjoy the thrill of a pony ride or a family trip in a horse & carriage
Airguns
Air rifle shooting for all ages on two different ranges at the fair

Clay Pigeon Shooting
If you are over 18 years then why not try your hand at clay shooting under the tuition of BACS coaches.  read more
Medieval Knights
Enjoy the spectacle of Medieval Jousting only at this fair

Fly Fishing
Learn how to tie a fishing fly or how to cast using a fly rod.

Ferret Racing
The thrill of the race from these fantastic little creatures.  Use your own ferrets or those we have at the fair

Children's Pet Show
The free to enter Pet Show runs on both days. Every child entering is awarded a rosette!
Dog Obedience
Our own version of the American Dog Whisperer will be there to demonstrate dog obedience and give some useful tips to visitors
Wellie Boot Throwing
Have a go at throwing the wellie and help Newry Hospice at the same time
Junior Gundog Handler
If you are under 16 years and have a gundog then this is the competition for you.  The event is at 15:00 on Saturday 28th May and it is free to enter.  Each entrant will receive a rosette. read more
Archery
Become Robin Hood for the afternoon and enjoy some tuition on the Archery Stand courtesy of Lisburn City Archery Club

All the way from the Ukraine, the Cossack Horseman and his unique style of riding should not be missed

This is a great opportunity for children to meet the hounds from four hunt packs that will be at the fair.

Northern Ireland's biggest gundog event will be staged at the fair.  Enjoy international class handlers putting their gundogs through their paces each day

Enjoy the Blues & Country music, Irish & Scottish dancing, line dancing and folk music in the Family Area at the fair
Vintage Vehicles
Tractors, classic and vintage cars will all be there and some experts on hand to explain everything to you
Children's Fun Fair
All the thrills of the fair at Moira Demesne.  Located in the Family Area there is ample seating for parents to chill out while the kids enjoy themselves
Over 150 Stalls
Everything from shooting & fishing gear to country clothing, walking sticks, boats, wellingtons, tools, knives and much more besides can be had at the fair.
