Alliance Ireland Makes National Countrysports Fair its Membership
Event
The Countryside
Alliance Ireland (CAI) has designated the National
Countrysports Fair at Moira Demesne on 29 & 30 May 2010
its National Membership Event for Northern Ireland. This
decision follows-on from the Association's announcement last year
that the Irish National Country Fair at Ballinlough
Castle in Co. Westmeath will be the CAI's National Membership Event in
the Republic of Ireland.
The attractions at the CAI stand at the National
Countrysports Fair are stacking up with the emphasis
firmly on membership services and value-for-money.
The CAI remit in Ireland is wide reaching, covering all
aspects of country sports and country life.
Many
aspects of this will be visible at Moira Demesne on the
Association's stand which is located at the centre of
the game fair. Lyall Plant, Chief Executive of CAI
said
"Our vision is of a vital, working and thriving
countryside for the benefit of the whole nation. We work
for everyone who loves the countryside and the rural way
of life. Through campaigning, lobbying, publicity and
education we influence legislation and public policy
that impacts on the countryside, rural people and their
activities. We are delighted to be associated with the
National Countrysports Fair at Moira Demesne and look
forward to working again with the organisers of the
highly successful game & country fair"
Gunmaker's Corner
The CAI will play host to a new feature this
year at the National Countrysports Fair as GB based gun
engravers and stock finishers join them on the stand.
Engraver, Barry Green, will be present with three of his
colleagues to demonstrate the engraver's art along with
Ian Summerill, a trained gunsmith and stock finisher.
In addition to the demonstrations, Barry and Ian's teams
will have on display a selection of their commissioned
pieces from some of the country's top shotgun and rifle
manufacturers.
Local Hunts & The CAI
A number of Local hunts will be visiting the
National Countrysports Fair over the weekend,
all supported by the Countryside Alliance
Ireland. Each hunt will be spending some
time on the CAI stand at the fair. Include
will be the Killultagh Hunt, Sunnyland Beagles
and the West Down Beagles. Children
are particularly encouraged to visit the CAI
stand where there will be a pen of beagles on
display, all of which will be requiring petting!
In
the show's main arena each day will be a visit
for one of the local hunts, along with a very
interesting parade of hounds featuring several
Northern Ireland bases packs. This will
include a hunting horn demonstration from the
huntsmen of the various packs. |

Deerstalking & Stick Dressing
The connection between
deerstalking and stick dressing may not be so tenuous as
it first appears.
Many of the finest country walking sticks are fashioned
from deer antlers. On hand to discuss stalking on
the CAI stand at Moira will be members of the British
Deer Society, NI Branch and demonstrating the art of
stick making local stick drersser, Lindsay Carlisle.
CAI Member Benefits at the
National Countrysports Fair
CAI has negotiated a
special member's discount with the organisers of
the National
Countrysports Fair and will further be assisting
its membership by subsidising further the entry
fee for the fair at Moira Demesne. This
package includes two tickets for the price of
one if pre-purchased from the CAI office at
Larchfield. Its simply a case of calling in
personally or telephoning to avail of this
special deal for CAI members. In addition
to this, members calling onto the stand at the
fair can avail of a free hot or cold beverage
and a half price hog roll!
The CAI Northern Ireland team will be on hand to
deal with membership queries on both days of the
show. |
