Archery & Air Gunning at the Fair
Archery
The interest in archery at the National Countrysports
Fair is phenomenal with literally thousands of visitors,
young and old, participating in the field archery
competitions.
Local archers from the Lisburn City
Archery Club will stage a variety of events including
have-a-go field and target archery competitions.
Extremely
popular with young and old alike, these events will be
running on both days of the National Countrysports Fair.
Air Gunning Events for Field & Target
Shooters
The National Countrysports Fair at Moira Demesne offers
the opportunity for the inclusion of two dedicated air
target ranges right at the heart of the Fair site. The
air rifle shooting at the Fair has always been a very
big public attraction and it is one of the few shooting
events that is accessible to the public in Northern
Ireland without the requirement of a Firearms
Certificate.
Ten Metre Range
The ten metre indoor target range gives
everyone the opportunity of shooting air
rifles at the National Countrysports
Fair. As in previous years,
the indoor air rifle range will be run
by the Strangford Lough Wildfowlers'
Association. There will be a number of
competitions running over the two-day
fair with classed for juniors, ladies
and men.
Field Target Event
Complementing the indoor range will be a field air rifle
competition organised by the Down Field Target
Club. Over 1,200 entries for the field target shooting
were processed at the 2010 National Countrysports Fair
making this the biggest entry event in the whole of
Ireland.
The organising club expect that record to be shattered
at the 2011 Fair with the building of the dedicated
field target range at Moira Demesne. Club shooters and
visitors to the Fair alike will have an opportunity to
enter a range of competitions geared towards the
differing experience levels of competitors. As in
the 10 metre range event, the field target shooting will
have junior, ladies and men's competitions
